1. A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with:

1.1 An achievement rating of 4 or better in four subjects chosen from the designated subject list below, and

1.2 An overall Admission Point Score of at least 24 (sum of best 6 NSC subjects, including the four mentioned in point 1.1 and excluding Life Orientation).

PLEASE NOTE:

A Bridging Course in Maths is available for admission to the BA Degree if the applicant does not meet the Mathematics requirements.

International students

Valid certificate of foreign conditional exemption from the South African Matriculation Board.

Conditional Exemption may be considered in the following cases:

1. The applicant has a Senior Certificate/Equivalent without exemption and additionally successfully completed the ICP Caregivers Qualification in 2005 - 2008 or the Basic Christian Counselling Course during 2009 or later, with an overall average of at least 55%.

2. Or the applicant is 45 years of age or older.

1. ICP BA degree in Psychology/ Christian Psychology with a minimum average of 60% for Psychology/ Christian Psychology 3 (completed no more than 10 years ago), or

2. BA degree in Psychology (from any accredited tertiary institution in South Africa, completed no more than 10 years ago with an minimum average of 60% for Psychology 3). NOTE: Additional subjects have to be completed in the first year of study – refer to the ICP Prospectus.

Additional prerequisites for application to be selected for the BPsych programme with Pastoral Counselling as focus area:

1. B Th degree with ICP Psychology 1, 2 & 3 (no more than 10 years ago with a minimum an average of 60% for Psychology 3) can also apply, or

2. B Th degree with Psychology 1, 2 & 3 from another accredited tertiary institution in South Africa (no more than 10 years ago with a minimum average of 60% for Psychology 3).

NOTE: Additional subjects have to be completed in the first year of study – refer to the ICP Prospectus.

Selection process

Applicants will be interviewed face-to-face by a panel of psychologists, after which a group of students will be selected for the course. Note: there are a limited number of places available in the programme.
